My 2 Cents: It really does seem that people have gone a little tablet crazy but this is a really nice design but you got to worry about battery life.  If it does come out to ~ $1,000.00 then it does sound too nice.

A nice things is that since it is a version of Linux it will be able to run flash on it which it a little bit of a plus especially if you are trying to compare it to the IPad.  But being dual-screen and 14” its pretty much in a class of its own

A company called Kno, Inc. has announced its flagship product, simply dubbed the Kno. The device is two large 14-inch touchscreens joined by a hinge that specifically targets the education sector.

Things needed:

  • Jailbroken iPad
  • Winterboard
  • BossPaper
  • OpenSSH (Note: Installing this app will disable your location service after you reboot until then everything will work great…to fix just uninstall and reboot … NOT respring)

Instructions

  1. Download the following file  Sample Theme file and extract the following files to the /var/stash/themes.xxxxxx folder using OpenSSH
  2. Enable ‘ClearWallpaper’ in ‘Winterboard’
  3. Enable BossPaper and add an image folder

Hope that helps :O)

Grooveshark Online Music Streaming

My 2 Cents:  Now this is a nice addition to the steaming music services ‘GrooveShark’.  For those of you that know of Spotify in the UK you will be already familiar with that it does but for those that don’t chk out their site which is free to use www.grooveshark.com … too nice.

Grooveshark is a free web based music streaming service that allows users to upload, share and stream tracks from a massive catalog of songs.

If you want it on your mobile device you are going to have to sign-up though but as far as i can see it is totally worth it.  So far you can only get the iPhone app through Cydia but it works like a charm

Grooveshark iphone app released on Cydia

Grooveshark, an online music streaming service that claims to be the ‘Youtube for music‘ has announced that their new iPhone application is now available at the Cydia store.

This comes after their iPhone app was rejected by the Apple app review staff multiple times over the past six months. In their announcement, the company claims that they were forced into this decision after Apple had been "ritually rejecting" their app for "primary selfish reasons".

My 2 Cents: Now here is another pieces of tech that might be able to make any surface multi-touch.  There would be so many possibilities…any tv/monitor has the potential to be an interactive surface :O)

2 February 2010 11:00 GMT / By Stuart Miles

3-metre, 65-finger and blow touchscreen debuts

A Portuguese company is hoping to transform our landscape and environment into one big touchscreen if they have their way, with a new technology debuting in Amsterdam.

Called projective capacitive touchscreen technology, the tech has the ability to turn virtually any surface into a touchscreen device for users to interact with.

"Our technology only captures touch, you can use it anywhere", Miguel Fonseca, chief business officer tells Pocket-lint in a one-to-one interview.

The technology is actually a thinner-than-paper polymer film that when applied to glass, plastic or wood turns the surface interactive.

The film, which features a grid of nanowires embedded into it, is able to monitor when and where it is touched and relay those co-ordinates to a controller, which in turn is read by software – making the user believe they have interacted with the specific point in question on the screen.

"You touch, it measures the disturbance, it will see where you are touching", comments Fonseca, explaining how the technology works.

My 2 Cents:  Here is a nice vid of what the iPad will be like and its built-in apps and at a $499 price-point you really can’t go wrong especially if it as easy to jailbreak as the iPhone…I really think that the main thing that make apple’s device better than the rest if because of captive touch…too nice.

Apple iPad: The Overview

On multiple occasions, Steve Jobs spoke about creating a new category of devices that would fill the gap between the smartphone and the laptop markets. He slammed netbooks for “not being better than anything.” He wanted something that would be better than a laptop at browsing the web and that could play games, movies, YouTube videos and more.

My 2 Cents:   Now this might just be a good reason people why start to move away from the iPhone.  Have always been surprised that Apple was not trying harder to work better with flash.  Have to say that it looks pretty good on this device…hope to see it soon on other devices :O)

In addition to the features announced on Tuesday at the Google press conference, the Nexus One will be getting even more functionality down the road, specifically Flash Player 10.1. In the video above, Adrian Ludwig of Adobe shows off the some of the work the company has been doing to bring Flash player to mobile devices. He demos several sites with various Flash elements, such as games, video, advertisements–all smoothly running on the Nexus One.

My 2 Cents:  Not this is a basic remake of the default Zen theme that comes with the Tour.  The only changes are that I have made it into 8 mini icons on a hidden dock / visible dock, the dark-gray banner has been removed, & home image is customizable.

I know the dock wobbles a little when scrolling fast but I am trying to fix that problem :O) Let me know what ya guys think :O)

My 2 Cents:  I have been looking for a good media streamer for the iPhone for a while now that would play any format and not just the standard *.mp4.  The best part of this app is really in the most current version…”Live Conversion”…which works actually damn well.  Feel bad that I was not able to include this in my top 10 but it is defiantly a must app to have.

image

Air Video allows you to stream videos to your iPhone/iPod touch over Wi-Fi. You don’t need to copy the videos to the device.

If the videos in your collection are not in format supported by iPhone, Air Video will convert them on fly*. You don’t need to wait until the entire video is converted. You can start watching it almost immediately!

image The free server software (for both Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows) needed to stream and convert the videos can be downloaded at http://www.inmethod.com/air-video

If you have any trouble getting Air Video working please contact us. We reply to every email message we get. Asking for help in customer reviews is unlikely to get your problem resolved because we have no way to contact you.
* Live conversion requires firmware 3.0.

New in this version * Live Conversion!
* Major rewrite
* Stability and performance improvements
* Option to reset video size settings
* Improved compatibility with firmare 3.0.1

My 2 cents:  Ok now i have had my blackberry for a little while now and although i might not think that it is the greatest machine in the world i do think that there are some FREE apps out there that makes the phone a lot more fun.

I have always believe that you might have the best machine (PC) around but without any good software its just a pretty paperweight.  Please note that there is no order to this and that most of these apps use a lot of bandwidth so make sure that your plan can support it and are still BETA but all work well…

Make sure to the the OTA links provided below from your BB browser for a fast and easy installation :O)
